LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR
(REF: A51/96) -  DEPARTMENT OF BOTANY

Applications are invited for a new tenurable appointment (Level B to Level
D) in Botany.   The appointee will be required to develop a strong
teaching and research programme in ecology/ecophysiology.  The appointee
will also be expected to participate in the teaching of first year
biology/botany courses, to develop specialised modules within the senior
course offerings of the Department at second and third year levels and to
co-supervise or supervise Honours (fourth year) and postgraduate
students.  The appointment is offered at 3 levels - Lecturer (Level B),
Senior Lecturer (Level C) and Associate Professor (Level D) to allow
applicants early in their career as well as established
academics/researchers with strong track records to be considered.  A
demonstrated potential to apply the skills of basic plant science to goals
relevant to an understanding of the native terrestrial biota of Western
Australia is desirable.  The level of appointment will depend on the
extent of experience in both research and teaching, or research
productivity and on proven capacity to attract research funding.

Salary Range:   Lecturer (Level B)               $43,042-$51,113 pa
                Senior Lecturer (Level C)        $52,726-$60,797 pa
                Associate Professor (Level D)    $63,487-$69,942 pa
