Postdoctoral Position-Root Physiological Ecology
A postdoctoral research position, funded by USDA-NRICGP, is available in
Sept. 1997 to study nutrient uptake kinetics and respiration of intact
apple roots in the greenhouse and field. The research is directed at
estimating root lifespan from a cost:benefit perspective where
respiration and uptake kinetics will be incorporated into a root
lifespan model and compared to field observations of root lifespan. The
applicant should have a desire to work on field systems and experience
with ion-specific electrodes, root physiology and modeling. Annual
salary will range from $26,000 to $30,000, depending on experience.
Applicants should send a curriculum vitae, university transcripts, a
brief statement of career goals and research interests and three letters
of recommendation to: David Eissenstat, Dept. of Horticulture, Penn
State University, University Park, PA 16802-4200; telephone
