This sounded like a good opportunity to try out my new access to Science
Citation Index. Here are the four most highly cited articles in my
search.  NOTES:
First, I searched on "physiological ecology" and ecophysiology.  A lot of
people don't use these keywords, so many important and influential papers
were missed. =20
Second, the index only covers paper published since 1991.  That may not be
enough time to determine whether the work was really influential.=20
Third, other research fields tend to do more citing, hence the first place
finish of an article that some reaeders may not even consider "real"
physiological ecology.
