POST DOC POSITION IN PLANT ECOLOGY/GENETICS

I am looking for a post doc to work on the ecological genetics of
Phalaris arundinacea, reed canary grass. Reed canary grass, Phalaris
arundinacea, is a tall, clonal, cool-season perennial grass. It was
originally introduced into the U.S. as a forage crop, but has since
escaped domestication and spread into wetland and pasture communities.
Reed canary grass exhibits variation in its aggressiveness. The
objective of this research is to determine the characteristics that make
reed canary grass an aggressive invader and how these vary among
genotypes and environmental conditions. Using electrophoresis, we have
already identified different genotypes taken from a variety of habitats
to be used in greenhouse and field studies. Previous studies indicate
that genotypic differences have large effects on survivorship and
growth. The post doc would be responsible for both greenhouse and field
experiments. Starting date is flexible but not later than June 1, 2000.
Funding is from the USDA.

To apply, please send CV, reprints and the names and addresses of three
referees.
