BILLINGS AWARD: CALL FOR APPLICATIONS/NOMINATIONS

The Physiological Ecology Section of the Ecological Society of America
is soliciting applications and nominations for the 1999 Billings Award.
This award will recognize the best student oral paper in physiological
ecology at the 1999 ESA meeting in Spokane, Washington, and carries a
$500 cash prize for the recipient.  All graduate students are eligible
for the award provided that they are the senior author of the paper, are
actively enrolled in a graduate program, or received their degree in
1999 and are presenting data collected during their graduate program.  

To apply, please send the following information to Dr. Stan Smith
(ssmith at ccmail.nevada.edu):

                Name
                Professional address
                E-mail and phone number
                Title of paper
                Session (Date and location)
                Time of presentation

This information needs to be received by Dr. Smith no later than July
30, 1999.  He will contact applicants upon receipt of their information.
Please note that individuals who nominate a student for the Billings
Award will need to arrange to have the above information forwarded to
Dr. Smith.

BEST STUDENT POSTER AWARD: CALL FOR APPLICATIONS/NOMINATIONS

The Physiological Ecology Section of the Ecological Socity of America is
soliciting applications and nominations for the 1999 Best Student Poster
Award.  This award will recognize the best student-presented poster in
physiological ecology at the 1999 ESA meeting in Spokane, Washington,
and carries a $500 cash prize for the recipient.  All graduate students
are eligible for the award provided that they are the senior author on
the poster, are actively enrolled in a graduate program, or received
their degree in 1999 and are presenting data collected during their
graduate program.
