CALL FOR JUDGES FOR THE BILLINGS AND BEST STUDENT POSTER AWARDS

Each year, the Physiological Ecology Section of the Ecological Society
of America holds an annual competition for the best student paper (the
Billings Award) and best student poster. We are now soliciting judges
from the Physiological Ecology Section for those two awards. Past
experience indicates that volunteering for one of these tasks involves
reviewing a modest number of papers or posters, and therefore a small
time commitment. This greatly helps the Section's awards program, and
is also a valuable professional service activity. Individuals interested
in serving as a judge at this year's ESA meeting in Spokane should
contact Dr. Stan Smith (ssmith at ccmail.nevada.edu) prior to July 30,
1999. Please indicate whether you are interested in judging the
Billings Award competition, the Best Student Poster Award, or both. Dr.
Smith will then be in contact with you prior to the meeting to arrange
logistical details of the judging.
