Postdoc - Semi-arid Ecosystem Processes

The USGS, Forest & Rangeland Ecosystem Science Center desires to
contract for up to 4.5 years with an individual to lead a research
project that examines the interactions of cattle grazing and climate on
semi-arid ecosystem function in the Intermountain West. Office and
laboratory space will be provided in the Forestry Sciences Laboratory,
Corvallis. This is a collaborative project working with USGS and
University scientists funded through the USGS BRD Global Change Research

(1) Recent (< 1 year) Ph.D. in Ecology, Biology or Soil Sciences; 
(2) Experience in completing research on ecosystem processes with
special emphasis on nutrient cycling, soil chemistry, soil-plant
nutrient uptake, or soil biology microbial ecology; 
(3) Independent, able to make decisions without supervision; 
(4) Able to travel and conduct field research in extreme weather

Desirable Experience: 
(1) Plant identification and sampling; 
(2) Arid or semi-arid ecosystems; 
(3) Livestock or large animal grazing; 
(4) Familiar with GIS capabilities.
