EMBL 59 begins

We will begin the process of building release 59 of the EMBL Nucleotide Sequence
Database today, Tuesday June 8th.

Daily updates:
 For those who work with daily updates from the EBI ftp server, the last
 update file for release 58 should be available today and named:
 ftp.ebi.ac.uk:pub/databases/embl/new/r58u085.dat.Z
 The next update file will contain post-release 59 data and be named:
 ftp.ebi.ac.uk:pub/databases/embl/new/r59u001.dat.gz as usual

Cumulative update file:
 The cumulative update file in
 ftp.ebi.ac.uk:pub/databases/embl/new/cumulative.dat.Z (.gz from tomorrow) 
 will continue to grow with new data until release 59 is built and is
 publicly available - we expect that to be around June 24th.

N.B. After today, as described the previous release notes, both the cumulative
file and daily update files will be compressed using gzip rather than the
previous unix compress. The cumulative update file will be named
cumulative.dat.gz and the first daily update file r59u001.dat.gz, and these
should become available on our ftp server from Wednesday onwards.
