JOB DESCRIPTION 

DESCRIPTION: Consults with appropriate staff to develop requirements and specifications for applications. Implements developed applications and provides customer support of applications.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Six years of information technology experience OR a bachelor's degree and four years of information technology experience. Positions in this classification may require a knowledge of one or more programming languages and/or a knowledge of an application and application tools.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  M.S. in Bioinformatics, Biology, or Computer Science, experience with LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP) deployments, fluent in at least one of the following programming languages (Perl, Java, C++ or Python), experience in designing and implementing web-based relational databases such as MySQL. Solid understanding of fundamental biological concepts and related open source software tools is preferred. Stong quantitative background would be a plus. The developer will adhere to approaches and emerging standards from NIH and NCI such as caBIG technologies and vocabularies. Excellent written and verbal skills are required.

 

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:  The sucessful candidate will be able to maintain multiple collaborations and projects, which might include the development of applications to simplify the analysis and comparison of genomic, microaray, proteomic, and metabolomic data across laboratories. This position would be ideal for a computational scientist with a strong experimental biology or biomedical research background.
