One study had a density of 40,000 plants/ha; the other at about 60,000
The traditional ag systems in the region plant roughly 4 to 8 plants/m2,
with several kernels planted in single hole, commonly at planting depths of
12 to 15 cm (some plant even deeper!).

Deb, glad to hear of your data.  I'm interested, at what density were those
