Maize Microarrays for Endosperm and Immature Ear Libraries Now Available
The microarray team at the University of Arizona has completed the
arraying of two EST collections sequenced by the Maize Gene Discovery
Project. These arrays are now available for purchase through the
ZmDB web site. The price is $150 for two slides. Below, a brief
description of each array is provided. For more information on the
arrays and for ordering, please visit the web site:
http://www.zmdb.iastate.edu/zmdb/microarray to stay informed about
the release of subsequent microarrays consult the progress pages
linked to this site. Please note that while this web site is active,
it is still under development. Currently the web site contains 8
pages (overview, progress, controls, libraries, arrays, protocols for
hybridization, ordering and links). Data from experiments with the
arrays performed by the Maize Gene Discovery project staff will be
posted soon. Control experiments indicate that the arrays provide
highly reproducible hybridization results.
Endosperm Array: Arrays contains 8,064 ESTs from the 605 library and
93 controls. Each EST is printed 2X and each control is printed 4X
to produce 16,500 spots. The arrays were printed in two formats:
100 slides contain duplicate arrays; 200 slides contain a single
large array with duplicate spots.
Immature Ear Array: Arrays contain 4,980 ESTs from the 606 library
and 111 controls. Each EST is printed 3X and each control is printed
6X to produce 15,606 spots. All slides were printed with a large
single array with replicate spots.
We are supplying two slides because we highly recommend that you
perform two comparisons with each pair of RNAs, i.e. label RNA "A"
with cy5 and RNA "B" with cy3 dye for hybridization to the first
slide and then reverse the labeling on your second slide.
