Members of the maize genetics community:
Long time maize geneticist Oliver E. Nelson died last night. This
comes after a long and gallant struggle with Parkinson's disease and
osteoporosis. He was 81.
Oliver took acutely ill in the evening while composing a letter. He
refused medical assistance until the letter could be finished, with Mrs.
Nelson's assistance. He survived only a short time after reaching the
hospital.
