Hi Mike,

I have the figure from this paper glued in my lab notebook, back in '89. 
Unfortunately I only recorded the reference as "Analytical Biochem, late '87". 
It is a neat trick, and the author deserves more credit - sorry to be so
vague, but hope it helps you track down the paper.
