autoclaving and PEG

OK, I've heard first-hand of fungal spores that could survive
autoclaving (in fact, the problem was only apparent if the media was
autoclaved and then stored at 60C for a few hours before being poured,
suggesting that the bugs needed the heat to induce growth) and while 5%
SDS sounds pretty awful I can believe there exist a few bugs which could
live in it.....BUT concentrated KOH? Where's the carbon source.....CO2?
If you could actually isolate a strain able to live under those conditions
it ought to be worth a Nature paper.
Just my Solution III induced thoughts on the subject...
