Am curious here... I've used Kanamycin that was stored at -20'C for over a 
year without so much as any breakthrough of colonies, suggesting that the 
antibiotic was failing.  Unlike the satilite colonies with AMP, I've never 
had any problem with Kan, but I admit that I don't know its stored half 
life.
