5'- 3'

I need to chew up a piece of DNA 5' to 3' in a buffer that is pH
7.5. I thought maybe I could use DNA pol 1. I assume that if I
don't add any nucleotides the 5' to 3' exonuclease activity of
this enzyme should be favored. Does this sound right to any one?
Has any one tried it?
Thanks in advance.
