help! purifying polyclonals

I am an MSc student trying to purify a monospecific subset of
human antibodies from a polyclonal rabbit antiserum.  I've tried
binding my ligand to Affi-Gel 10 support but don't get good
binding.  I've tried transfering the ligand to nitrocellulose
and eluting bound antibodies, I can't seem to end up with
a decent amount of antibodies for immunofluorescence and/or
I get interfering signal.  Short of using up every drop of
antigen and serum to get anough for one slide, is there
another system or some optimization tips?  Thanks!
