processing of viral supernatants for EM

I'd like to process cell-free, HIV supernatants for electron microscopy
analysis. I tried with low-melting point agarose embedding of supernatants
(followed by glutaraldehyde treatment directly in agarose) but this lead
to abnormal structures. Does anyone already tried this, or alternatively
do you know a technique to gently immobilize viral particles on a
membrane?
