I know about the cheap eppi method and I already have employed it. 
It's very convenient when you have many samples that are not too 
precious.  
In my case, the protein sample is quite valuable for me since there 
is much work to produce it. So approx 10 USD for a slidealyzer 
probably will be worth it, when it proves what claims pierce is 
claiming. My time is more precious.
