CHX chase: what is a good control?

I am looking for a cytoplasmatic protein with a halflife of approx 2
hrs to use as a control in a CHX chase. (not as a loading control). My
concern is that CHX can kill the cells thereby releasing cytoplasmic
proteins while the "cell skeleton" with actin remains, resulting in a
decay of your protein of interest, that is actually not real.
