Post-Doctoral Associate
Modeling Microbial Systems
The Environmental Engineering program at Northwestern University seeks a
post-doctoral associate having expertise in the numerical modeling of
microbiological systems. A multi-disciplinary team, headed by Drs. David
Stahl and Bruce Rittmann, is investigating inter-species electron transfer
in anaerobic consortia. The post-doctoral associate will have primary
responsibility for developing and applying a mathematical model of
multi-species anaerobic communities. The associate also will participate
actively in the experimental program and ensure the interface between the
experiments and the modeling. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D.
degree in environmental engineering, biochemical engineering, microbial
ecology, or other relevant field. He or she should have extensive
experience with numerical modeling and a practical appreciation of
microbial systems. The starting date can be from June 1, 1995 through
October 1, 1995, and the duration of the position is two years.
Candidates should send a full curriculum vita, a statement of
qualifications, and the names and addresses of at least three references
to: Dr. Bruce E. Rittmann, Northwestern University, Dept. of Civil
Engineering, 2145 Sheridan Road, Evanston, IL 60208-3109. Inquiries can be
forwarded by e-mail: b-rittmann at nwu.edu.
