Richard, A couple of years ago we encapsulated Bacillus thurigensis spores
in agarose beads and used them in a space shuttle experiment to produce
toxin protein crystals after initiating germination and growth in
microgravity. We used the One Cell apparatus, but had to develop the
technology ourselves. A poster was presented on this technique using
Psuedomonas putida at the 1994 American Society for Microbiology meetings.
If you really want specifics, please contact me or my advisor, Dr. Allen T.
Phillips (atp at psu.edu). Sincerely, Carol S. Baker
