If anyone wants a position as a Microbiology Registrar at the Royal Darwin Hospital, please read
the advertisement from yesterday's Weekend Australian. I have reprinted the test.

Royal Darwin Hospital
Royal Darwin Hospital, the main teaching hospital in the Northern Territory with around 300
beds, provides a broad range of services in all speciality areas to the Darwin urban population,
as well as serving as a referral centre to the whole "Top End" of the Northern Territory. Royal
Darwin Hospital is a teaching hospital of Sydney University and will also be the site of a
Clinical Medical School of Flinders University, South Australia for its Medical Graduate Course.
The Menzies School of Health Research is situated on the hospital campus and liaison between the
two establishments is actively encouraged.
A registrar position currently exists in the Microbiology Department for a suitably qualified
Medical Officer wishing to undertake microbiology/general pathology as part of RCPA, or
infectious diseases training for the Royal Australian College of Physicians. In addition to
training in routine microbiology, this position offers an excellent perspective in tropical
microbiology. The successful applicant should preferably have at least one year’s experience in
either microbiology or infectious diseases and should be able to be fully registrable in the NT.
Salary is in line with the Medical Officers Northern Territory Public Sector (NTPS) 1994
Agreement and Award. Entitlements include six weeks annual leave, assistance with removal and
relocation expenses and short term, low rental accommodation.
Forward written applications, providing names, addresses and contact telephone numbers of three
referees to The Medical Recruitment Officer, Royal Darwin Hospital, PO Box 41326, Casuarina NT
0811, by COB 31 March 1996. For further information, telephone Dr Gary Lum, Director of
Microbiology on (089) 22 8091.

If you are interested please contact me as soon as possible.
