Two postdoctoral positions are available immediately as part of a
multidisciplinary team studying intrinsic processes in aquifers. Areas
of interest include: (1) naturally occurring microbial growth substrates
in aquifers, (2) microbiological processes and communities in aquifers,
both pristine and contaminated by chlorinated solvents, (3) transport of
bacteria, other particles, and colloids in groundwater, and (4)
biotransformation processes involving chlorinated solvents in subsurface
environments. Persons hired will work on one or more of these problems.
Experience in physiological or molecular aspects of microbial ecology is
desired. Starting date is May 15-30, 1996. Salary is negotiable and
competitive. Positions are for up to three years, subject to continued
availability of funds and yearly program reviews. Submit curriculum
vitae, including a list of publications, and the names of three
