Eric Nutall  here at UNM doing bioremediation on an old uranium mine.
I think this is funded by the U.S. department of energy. You might find 
more examples on the DOE homepage. I think there was also a big project 
on the St. Regis river in Upstate New York a few years ago. Sorry I can't 
get more specific.
