BIOFILMS IN AQUATIC SYSTEMS:13-16 APRIL 1997, WARWICK UK
AIMS
The aim of the Organising Committee is to examine the phenomenon of
biofilms in aquatic environments. Sessions will deal with an
introduction to and the definition of biofilms; biofilms in natural
waters, drinking and process waters; public health aspects, and the
detection and control of biofilms and the remediation of systemic
microbial colonisation.
Keynote lectures in each session will be given by internationally
renown speakers whose experience will provide an insight into some of
the fundamental physiological processes which microorganisms adopt
within biofilms as a means of survival. Invited and offered papers
will provide an opportunity for researchers and practitioners to
describe the latest research findings and experience in this rapidly
developing field.
Workshops will address the fundamental issues of the structure and
physiology of biofilms in aquatic systems, and strategies for
treatment and control.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
The conference will provide a unique forum for researchers, scientists
and engineers responsible for drinking water and process water
systems, public health practitioners, and water quality regulators to
familiarise themselves with this fascinating and important subject.

OFFERS OF PAPERS AND POSTERS
Offers of papers are invited on the themes defined in the
introduction. Abstracts should be submitted to the Secretariat to the
following format and timetable. One page A4 with 2.5 cm margins on
all edges, 1.5 line spacing and at least 12 pt type size, in Times
Roman (or similar font). Offers of papers to be received by 31
October 1996. Offers of posters by 31 January 1997. Deadline for
full manuscripts of accepted papers is 13 April 1997.
