A posdoctoral position is available to study an essential density dependent
regulatory gene aarC in E. coli (see Rather et al. J. Bacteriol 1997
179:2267). A combination of approaches will be used to study aarC function
including site-directed mutagenesis, isolation of extragenic suppressors
and purification of the AarC protein. Experience in protein purification
is required and a knowledge of bacterial genetics would be helpful. Salary
is negotiable and the position will be for one year with a second year
contingent on the first years progress. If interested, please contact
