Hi!
Some E.coli strains (harbouring Col V plasmid) synthetise aerobactin.
Aerobactin is a dihydroxamate siderophore originally isolated from
Enterobacter (or Aerobacter) aerogenes. May be in the media you are
using, this siderophore is expressed and this fact may explain your
observation.
