Post-Doctoral Researcher Microbiology/Biochemistry
A post-doctoral position is available to work on an investigation of cell
envelope
lipoglycan composition in relation to the virulence of the important equine
pathogen
Rhodococcus equi. Experience of microbiology and analytical biochemistry
techniques
are required and previous work with carbohydrates and lipids would be
advantageous.
The project, which is funded by the Horserace Betting Levy Board, will be
supervised
by Dr Iain Sutcliffe (School of health Sciences) and carried out in
collaboration with
Professor John Prescott (University of Guelph, Canada). The work will be
carried out
in a well equipped multi-user laboratory at the University of Sunderland.
The appointment will be for 2 years, subject to successful review by the
Horserace
Betting Levy Board at the end of the first year, and will be made on Salary
£13,480 -
£15, 731. For appointment on Salary Scale B candidates should have one -
two years
relevant post-doctoral experience. Closing date for applications: 25 July
