It is my understanding that if you are able to catch your primary
infection with HSV and get acyclovir (Zovirax) treatment that there is
a possibility that you may be able to get rid of the virus completely.
But, if the first case is not treated or the treatment comes too
late, Zovirax is used to lessen the severity and length of HSV
outbreaks that occur after the primary infection.
Is there a doctor that can confirm this?

someone told me that the drug, zovirax, helps. i also heard that the
vitamin, l-lysine is able to help as well (i don't know the exact
biochemistry). the virus, however, never really leaves one's body. it
supposedly hibernates in the nerves until something else (like stress)
triggers it to come out again.
hope this is useful.
