I´m interested in information about embedding techniques for
thinsectioning of biofilms.
For my purposes the embedding medium should meet the following demands:
it should
+ be good soluble in water,
+ allow for subsequent staining procedures like Alcian-blue staining,
+ be stable under treatment with ethanol,
+ be applicable in fluorescence microscopy, therefore not showing
autofluorescence,
+ be variable in consistence,
+ allow for microtome thinsectioning to thicknesses of about 10µm.
