Infections and blood pressure

A week ago my big toe became infected and my blood pressure jumped
up about thirty points. After antibiotic treatment of my toe, my BP dropped
again. Any idea what the mechanism is by which infections raise BPs?

Does each epithelial cell in every blood vessel sense my toe hurts
and decide to cramp up? Does something in my blood make my heart work
harder?

        Thanks.
