I have a chronic Chlamydophila (Chlamydia) pneumoniae infection,
with all of the respiratory, cardiac, and opportunistic infections that go
with it. I have been "cured" twice with macrolides and each time I
experienced 4-5 months of incredibly good health before relapsing. I've had
pneumonia 4 times in three years and each episode has been worse than the
one before it.
I want to learn how to prevent future relapses, hence my new-found
interest in immunology. Millions of people are in the same boat, so I would
hope that anything I learn could be of use to others.
