I am looking to identify specific bacterial metabolites that cause malodor and then measure those byproducts by GC or other analytical method. But I am finding it difficult to find those specific by-products. Most interested in by-products of Staph and E. coli. We have looked at ammonia and Proteus, measuring with Drager columns, but I want something more sophisticated. Any ideas?
