[Microbiology] deletin mutation and phenotype expression

 hi everyone


There is one mutant bacterial strain which is mutated by deletion mutation
of particular gene
even after deletion mutation it's reported that this mutant strain can
express that phenotype in minimal amount.

so can any one tell me
how is this possible the gene responsible for particular metabolite is
deleted but still it's produces minimal amount of that metabolite.
