I have been getting a number of requests for a neighbor-joining program that
will perform bootstrapping on DNA sequence data, as was done in the recent
"mitochondrial eve" reanalysis (SCIENCE 255:737-739). The program used in
that study will be available from Nei's group at Penn State in the near
future, in the form of a phylogenetic analysis package (stay tuned).
However, Dr. Thomas Whittam - also in this department - has available (now)
a very nice bootstrap program for NJ trees called NJBOOT. He can be
contacted directly for a copy of that program (TSW1 at PSUVM).
