The best way to find this out is to use the NCBI GenBank
E-mail server. In this case, the best method is to send the
following query to retrieve at ncbi.nlm.nih.gov:
>begin query
DATALIB genbank
TITLES yes
BEGIN
paniscus [SRC]
>end query
This tells the server to retrieve only the TITLES for entries
in GenBank with "paniscus" in the source. The resultant list
of titles can then be quickly scanned. The answer is that there
are apparently three nuclear-encoded protein genes from
Pan paniscus in GenBank 72 (CHPAAB, CHPA13GT, CHPINVOL),
which can then be retrieved by using those locus names as
the query and omitting the TITLES line.
The NCBI server is quite nice, once you learn its quirks.
Replies are usually just short of instantaneous.
