Does anybody have any information/references regarding the evolution of the
following:
1) chroococcidiopsis
2) cryptoendolithic organisms
3) lichens
I am particularly interested in the evolution of micro-organisms which occupy
niches in low moisture, cold or hot conditions, like that found in deserts or
the arctic. Apart from cryptoendolithic organisms are there any other types?
Also what kind of physiological changes do people think are needed to adapt
to this type of environment i.e alteration in cell walls/membranes etc.
Many thanks,
