Dear Colleagues,
As an afterthought to the %GC thread, has anybody heard
of expts. along the line of...
1. Take mutant host (low/high %GC content)
2. Transform with plasmid+gene of opposite GC trend (high/low)
3. Grow under conds. where expression of the cloned gene is
essential.
4. Sub-culture ad nauseum.
5. Sequence portion of cloned gene at intervals.
Does a drift to the host GC preference occur?
Over what time-scale?
Probably a common "thought-experiment" which would be
considered too boring to carry out!!
