Dear Raul:
While others have replied to you, Carl Woese's name have not been mentioned
though he championed the use of ribosomal sequences for phylogenetic
analysis. In fact, he has recently proposed that all organisms can be
placed within one of three major domains: Bacteria, Eukarya, and Archaea.
(Nonetheless, his work has supported this notion for about two decades).
Moreover, thanks to him different areas in biology (including evolutionary
biology) have shown substantial progress within the last decade.
