3'OH on tRNA

A fellow student asked me whether the CCA on a picture of tRNA
has some purpose. I looked into (or upto) the matter and found that
CCA is always on the 3'OH end. NOw the Q remains why? I found some references
that indicated that the movement of tRNA from the P site on the Ribosome to
the E site or rather the departure of tRNA from the ribosome did not
work well when the CCA was changed. Can anyone verify this or give some
better references on the matter.... It is not that is matters very much to
me but I find it a very interesting problem.... :)
