POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN MOLECULAR POPULATION GENETICS OF
MAIZE AND ITS WILD RELATIVES

Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ


The successful applicant will work on a project
investigating molecular diversity in maize and the
teosintes.   By sampling nucleotide sequences from a number
of individuals from a number of taxa, we hope to gain
valuable insight into the evolutionary processes that govern
the maintenance of genetic diversity. Along the way,  this
approach will yield important information concerning the
origin of of an important food crop and its relationship to
its wild relatives.

The position will be available on July 1, 1995.  The
position requires a Ph.D. and a working knowledge of
molecular biology and population genetics.  Programming
experience is not necessary but would be helpful. The
position carries a salary of $25,000 and medical benefits.
