I am not from the Santa Fe Institute but if your are very interested in the
topic, I suggest you read Stuart Kauffman's, AT HOME IN THE UNIVERSE,
Oxford University Press, 1995. It is written for the general public
(provided you don't mind substantial mental to follow all the examples and
illustration).
I am finding it fascinating.
