Title: "Role of Some Conservative Sequences in Regulatory Elements of
Antp-like Homeobox Genes of Vertebrates"
Author: Alexander V. Spirov
ABSTRACT
Nowadays homeobox genes were found for species of main
invertebrate and vertebrate taxa. It is known that these genes
play key role in time and space orchestration of genome
expression during development. Auto- and crossregulatory
functional interactions join homeobox genes into gene networks.
We found correlation in variability of coding and regulatory
regions of invertebrate homeobox genes. Phylogenetic relations
of structure and regulatory elements involved in cross- and
autoregulatory connections are detaily investigated. Particular
phylogenetic analysis of these genes promoter regions as
compared with results of such analysis of their homeoboxes
reveals two opposed tendencies in evolution of the regulatory
elements of the genes. First trend is conservation of many
regulatory elements in evolution of invertebrate homeobox genes,
while second one is high variability of other non-coding gene
regions. (P.27, Figs.7)
Keywords: homeobox genes, promoter regions, regulatory elements,
phylogenetic analysis.
