Please forgive my ignorance but I went to a talk by Sidney Brenner
about 10 years ago or more where he talked about molecular
lingusitics. What he meant was that proteins were built up out of
functional domains (words) to build active proteins (sentences). I
have failed to find any publications about it, is it a proven or
disproven theory. Of course I understand all about functional domains
(ATP or DNA binding etc. etc. etc.) but I haven't seen any efforts to
mix and match to get novel activities.....Thanks
