Darwin is the biotech which a certain William Gates has backed
heavily. They are apparently using a combination of in vitro evolution,
combinatoric chemistry, and genomics to develop pharmaceuticals.
A number of other companies are using evolutionary techniques to develop
drugs (e.g. Affymax).
