I'm postdoc in Drosophila developmental genetics. I am interested in
why some genes are required only during embryogenesis and others only
during imago formation when homologs of both types are essential in
other species that have a more 'linear' development. I would
appreciate it if anyone could direct me to publications that deal with
the evolution of the free-roaming larval stage and it's relevance to
the development of 'higher' animals.
