ASSISTANT PROFESSOR
The Department of Biology at New Mexico State University seeks to fill a
tenure-track assistant professor position. The successful candidate will
establish an independently funded research program in 1) the evolution of
prokaryotes, 2) population/community genetics of prokaryotes, or 3) use of
prokaryotes as models of fundamental evolutionary and ecological processes
to complement existing departmental strengths in microbiology, evolution
and ecology. Candidates must hold an earned doctorate in an appropriate
field. Postdoctoral experience strongly preferred. Teaching
responsibilities will include General or Public Health Microbiology,
Microbial Physiology or Microbial Genetics and participation in the
department's introductory biology sequence. The department offers BS
degrees in biology and microbiology as well as MS and PhDs and
participates in the Molecular Biology Graduate Program. For more
