I am still perplexed by this. If you're talking about the theories
Darwin published in "On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural
Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for
Life", I think it's the theory of natural selection, not the theory of
evolution. If I recall right, he basically left variation (evolution)
to chance.
