I apologize to anyone who receives multiple copies.

Vacancy Announcement: Postdoctoral Fellowship in Comparative Phylogeography

A position is available in the laboratory of Jack Sullivan at the
University of Idaho for a postdoctoral fellow to study comparative
phylogeography of several northern Rocky Mountain highland rodents. Funding
is guaranteed at ca. $28,080 (plus benefits) for the first year, with a
very high probability of renewal for a second year. Position will begin any
time prior to 1 September, 1999. Primary duties will involve lab work
associated with DNA sequencing, molecular phylogenetic analyses, and
communication of results in peer reviewed journals. In addition, duties
will include some field work including collection of samples and
preparation of museum specimens. Minimum requirements are: Ph.D. in biology
or an associated field; demonstrated ability to conduct lab work associated
with DNA sequencing; demonstrated expertise in phylogenetic analyses of DNA
sequence data including model-based analyses; demonstrated ability to
communicate results of research through publication and presentation at
scientific meetings. Experience in field mammalogy is desired, but not
required. In addition, candidates who are well-versed in statistical
phylogenetic hypothesis testing will be given preference. Interested
persons should submit a vitae and cover letter indicating research
interests either electronically to: sullivan at onyx.si.edu, or by snail mail
to: Jack Sullivan, Department of Biological Sciences, University of Idaho,
